due to his GAY STATUS??? HUH???

so two days ago i was reading a note sent to me by another provider regarding a patient and his heartburn as well as possible alcoholism. the note was well written until I got to a certain little area called the assessment where he writes that "this may be related to his gay status". I wasn't sure what exactly a GAY STATUS was but i also am missing the correlation between GAY and heartburn or alcoholism. I wrote him a little note letting him know that I didn't understand and assume that he made a mistake in his note. this was two days ago. so far the note remains the same. I wonder if he will change it. If not I may just ask him to clarify how gay and heartburn or alcoholism are all related because I wouldn't want to "MISS" the diagnosis. OYE!!
